So in my last blog, I covered my experience of IPMAT(Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test). And it’s time to tell you about my experience of DUJAT. I will also include all the do’s and don’ts during the preparation of it.

After IPMAT

I didn’t clear IPMAT and I knew I wouldn’t but the feeling of a failure shocked and scared me to my very core. I had to give time to myself after that. During that time, I realized it wasn’t the end of the world. I could still do better. I am not like this, it’s just a glimpse of challenges life gives you in your journey. I came back stronger and started preparing for DUJAT. I’ll share some things about what I did during that time to overcome those feelings. I was preparing for DUJAT from February so I had two months after IPMAT to refresh everything I had studied for it. Though Logical Reasoning is an interesting subject, it can be tricky too. So clear your little little doubts and concepts.

I knew I had to work very hard and since COVID was still active, keep myself healthy. I started by getting a good and rejuvenating sleep and getting up early. Waking up at 5:00 AM and studying is the best thing you can do to start a happy and productive morning. Your mind is rejuvenated after getting a good sleep so it works much much better in the morning. I know it’s hard for night owls like me to change their routine completely but trust me it comes in handy. I still consider it one of my best decisions. I am trying to have this routine for eternity but it’s hard for night owls like me. But when you chase something so badly that you just want it, it makes you do anything to have it. So just clear your thoughts, know what you want and just do what it takes. I started waking up at 5:00 AM everyday and studying until I eat my breakfast which was around 9:30 or 10:00 AM.

Make sure to give your mind a rest from time to time. I gave some time to myself and played outside or listened to my Spotify playlist. Songs can be rejuvenating too. I had my own theories and thoughts that helped me throughout the journey. So, do consider the following points:-

1. Say goodbye to distractions. Social Media is what decreases your productivity. Deactivate it for some time. It’s not important than your career.

2. You become what you think. Clear out all the negative thoughts. Positive mind is a healthy mind. Don’t let bad thoughts affect you in any way.

3. Having tension and having stress are two different things. Stress is bad for you but tension can be good for you if you want it to. Tension drives productivity because it will make you work more and more to not face those fears you imagine.

4. Mocks mocks and mocks. I gave around 70 mock tests including Symbiosis, DUJAT, IPMAT Indore and Rohtak. Mocks will define you and shape your mind to face these questions easily. Helps in knowing about your preparation.

5. Don’t focus on doing the whole syllabus. This is the mistake I was doing but after knowing and help from others, I avoided this at an early stage. It’s what the management entrance exam wants us to learn. If you’re going to learn how to manage in your college life and the life ahead, managing the preparation of your entrance exam is the first baby step towards achieving a sound management system for yourself. Focus on completing and thoroughly revising 60% of syllabus and scoring 59% of it!

6. There’s a saying in Hindi, Khargosh nahi Kachua Bano. It means that don’t rush in achieving something. Things take their own time. There are numerous baby steps towards the end of it. And as we know from the story, tortoise won the race and not the rabbit.

THOUGHTS AND CONCLUSION

All your preparation is decided by one exam. Even if you don’t clear your entrance exam, it doesn’t make you a loser. I am remembering a line from Kota Factory web series said by Jeetu Bhaiya. He said that not achieving something even after you worked very hard doesn’t make you a loser. It makes you a warrior. You chose to fight hard. That’s what matters. It means you are the kind of person who sets a goal and fights very hard to achieve it. That is a true warrior.

I want to conclude that failure doesn’t make you weak. It makes you stronger. Never think it’s the end of the world. You can do a million other things and still be successful in this modern era. In the end, all we need is a good income and have a luxurious and successful life. It doesn’t matter what path you choose, as long as you’re clear about the journey and ready to face what it throws in front of you, no one can stop you from becoming successful. I would like to take a moment and thank my family, teachers and other influential people who helped me in learning the true meaning of life and helped me in facing the reality. Always keep learning, it makes you grow mentally and physically. And for the ending I would like to quote Swami Vivekananda’s line that helps me going everyday.

“Take Risks in Your Life. If You Win, You Can Lead! If You Lose, You Can Guide!”
